STATEMENT OF FAITH

STATEMENT OF FAITH

God - There is one God, existing eternally: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is all powerful, all wise, and all-knowing. He is Holy. He is Love. He is merciful and forgiving. He created all things in heaven and on earth. (John 10:30; John 14:26; Philippians 2:5-7)

Jesus - Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life - and salvation is only through Him. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead on the third day. He ascended to heaven to reign at God’s right hand and will return to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13)

Holy Spirit - We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and opens the eyes of sinners, awakening them to repentance from sin and faith in Jesus. All believers are indwelt by the Holy Spirit at conversion. He is the seal and guarantee of our salvation. The Holy Spirit gives believers spiritual gifts and enables them to live godly lives. His primary role is to transform men and women into the image of Christ. (John 14:15-26; John 16:5-16; Ephesians 1:13-14; 2 Corinthians 3:16-18, Acts 26:15-28; Romans 12:3)

The Word - The Bible is the infallible word of God, which is sufficient for all we need to live the Christian life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 119:105)

Salvation - Every person is broken by sin and in need of salvation. Salvation is a free gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by good works – but only by trusting and following Jesus, confessing, and repenting of their sins and being baptized. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)

The Church - The Church is made up of all people who have become followers of Jesus by trusting in Jesus as LORD and being baptized into His body. The Church exists to glorify God and to make disciples of all people. The weekly participation in the Lord’s Supper is a church family remembering together the death of Christ until He returns. God created men and women as equals in Christ with differing roles and responsibilities. Men are to be servant leaders in the family and the church as modeled by Christ and His bride. (Ephesians 5:22-33; 1 Corinthians 11:17-33, 1 Corinthians 12:13; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Matthew 18:19-20)

Marriage and Family - When God created the heavens and the earth, he created men and women in His image. Men and women are meant to reflect God’s image in the world. Therefore, we believe God’s design for sexual intimacy is to be expressed only within the context of marriage. God instituted marriage between one man and one woman as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, we believe that marriage is exclusively the union of one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:6-9; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9)

Sanctity of Life – We believe all human life is sacred and created by God in his image. Human life is of immeasurable value in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged and every condition of life.

New Creation - We believe that Jesus is returning to set up His kingdom and judge the world. Those who have trusted Jesus for salvation will live eternally with Him. Those who have rejected the Good News of Jesus Christ will be eternally condemned. God’s desire is that no one be separated from Him, which is why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to earth to redeem all who believe in Him. (John 11:25-26; John 3:16, Matthew 25:46; 2 Timothy 4:1)
